Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the Zippe Driver FAQ, your guide to how we’re redefining the transport industry. From competitive earnings and steady school contracts to our "family-first" ethical culture, you’ll find clear, honest answers to all your most important questions right here.

  • Yes. To drive with Zippe in Cardiff you’ll need a private hire driver’s licence issued by Cardiff Council, a licensed private hire vehicle, and valid private hire (‘hire and reward’) insurance. If you’re not yet licensed, our requirements page walks you through the full process step by step.

  • Earnings depend on when and where you drive, but Cardiff’s mix of student demand, daily commuters, and major events at the Principality Stadium and Cardiff City Stadium means consistent work throughout the week. Event days in particular — Six Nations matches, major concerts, cup finals — are among the highest-earning opportunities available to any Cardiff private hire driver. Unlike Uber and Bolt, Zippe’s lower commission means more of every fare stays with you. [Add specific earnings figure when data is available.

  • Yes — there’s no exclusivity requirement. You’re free to drive for multiple platforms simultaneously. Many Zippe drivers multi-app and find their overall earnings improve because of our lower commission rate on every Zippe trip.

  • Most drivers are live within 48 hours of submitting complete documents. The main variable is verifying your Cardiff Council private hire licence. Once everything is confirmed, you can start accepting trips straight away.

  • Your vehicle needs to meet Cardiff Council’s private hire vehicle licensing standards — typically under 10 years old, with a valid MOT, private hire insurance, and a council vehicle inspection. We accept saloons, estates, MPVs, and hybrid or electric vehicles. EVs are increasingly requested by Cardiff passengers, particularly for Cardiff Bay and city centre trips.

  • No. There are no minimum hours and no minimum trips. You drive when it suits you — whether that’s picking up shifts around a stadium event calendar or driving full-time. Zippe works around your life.

  • Yes — Cardiff Airport transfers are among the better-paying longer fares available to Cardiff Zippe drivers. Early morning and late evening departures generate reliable demand. There’s no restriction on operating area once you’re licensed by Cardiff Council.
